"Es" (also dieses Schreiben) wurde lange "unter der Decke" gehalten, um nicht noch mehr Öl in die brennende Wunde der tief getroffenen (angezählten?) Franzosen zu tropfen (oder zu kippen).
Und als dann Thomson CSF den deutsch / holländischen Broadcast "Super-Laden" BTS mit allem Drum und Dran aufgekauft hatte, war es lange Jahre (für die Deutschen hier in Darmstadt) opportun, jede weitere Eskalation so gut wie möglich zu vermeiden.
Doch Anfang 2010 war wiederum klar, Thomson will die unter Grass Valley zusammengekauften BTS Reste in Breda und Weiterstadt abstoßen und so geschah es Mitte 2010 auch.
Jetzt kann das Alles "ohne große Probleme" (für deutsche Arbeitsplätze) ans Tageslicht geholt werden. Es ist ja sowieso fast keiner mehr da (im Technikpark Nr. 7 in Weiterstadt) und PAL ist ja auch schon lange Geschichte. Darum hier ein Schreiben aus 1975. So lange war es bei Professor Hausdörfer als "Streng Vertraulich" tief unten in der Schublade "gehalten" worden.

Anmerkung : Was bei uns in Deutschland der Telefunken Mann Walter Bruch als "bekanntester Fernsehprofi" war, der vom Telefunken Marketing lanciert wurde, - war in den USA und auch weltweit der sehr angesehene und kompetente "Ex-Ampex- Mann" Joe Roizen sehr bekannt und geschätzt.

Dear Dr. Hausdorfer:
I was very pleased at the opportunity of meeting with you in Darmstadt and of seeing the excellent work you are doing in the SECAM process. As I told you and your colleagues during my visit, these were certainly the best SECAM images I have ever seen in my long association with Compagnie Francaise de Television.
In particular, I was impressed with the versatility of your coder and with the performance characteristics of the decoder on your monitor. I have asked Mr. Jean-Noel Dibie to forward to you a two-inch quadruplex tape, with typical ORTF program material, so that you may use it for evaluations in your own laboratory.
During my stay in Darmstadt, I gave you a document published by the ORTF which covered the CCIR agreement last year on SECAM standards and tolerances. You were going to make a copy of this for your own files; however, I forgot to ask for the original back and would appreciate your sending it tome here in Palo Alto now that I have returned to California.
In addition to this, I plan to publish a new SECAM newsletter which will review new products in this field. To help with this, I would appreciate receiving your normal brochures describing your SECAM products and any technical instructional material about them which might be useful. A few black and white glossy photographs of the units themselves might also be valuable.
Once again my thanks for this pleasant encounter relating to a mutually interesting subject, and I hope that we can continue our association by correspondence as matters related to SECAM come up in the future. Please pass on my regards and thanks to your colleagues.
